Teaching Honors
The most important validation of my teaching philosophy and methodology is students' achievements that testify to the skills they have learned in our classes. For example, students from my WR 39C classes won the research section of the composition program's annual lower-division writing contest two years running in 1995 and 1996. Both essays have been published as follows:
Thompson, Chris. "Resolving the DNA Debate." A Student Guide to Writing at UCI. Fourth edition. Burgess International, 1996.
Nguyen, Hoang-Quyen. "The Crusade for a Good Death." A Student Guide to Writing at UCI. Third edition. Burgess International, 1995.
In addition, my teaching abilities have several times been honored by the university:
1998 Excellence in TA mentoring
1997 Campus-wide teaching excellence fellowship
1997 Outstanding Humanities TA
1997 Excellence in teaching literature
1995 Excellence in teaching composition
