Gertrude Stein Resources

Here's a listing of the interesting Gertrude Stein resources I've found on the Web thus far. I'm especially fond of the gURL magazine recreation of her salon and the reactions of North Side Pittsburghers to their famous homegirl. And don't miss the entire text of Tender Buttons online.

Brief Bio
From Alan Filreis, University of Pennsylvania.
Gertrude Stein Page
From Kimmo Sääskilahti in Finland. Includes a Bibliography of Stein's writings.
Gertrude Stein Online
Sarah Kornfeld and Stafford.
Epitaph Submissions for Gertrude Stein
"An international epitaph is to be created in honour of Gertrude Stein . . . The subject prescribed . . . is the last [No. LXXXIII] of the Stanzas in meditation ['Why am I if I am']. We are looking for textual, audio and grafic elaborations of the theme"; in English or German. From Reinhard Döhl and Johannes Auer.
Time-Sense: An Electronic Quarterly on the Art of Gertrude Stein
Edited by Sonja Streuber.
"Reflections on the Atom Bomb"
Brief 1946 statement by Stein. From Alan Filreis, University of Pennsylvania.
Tender Buttons
Project Bartleby has put the whole text online.
Johanna Blakely, "Not Possibly Autobiography: Improper Authorship and The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas" (1997)
From Thresholds.
Dead Women You Should Know about...Gertrude B. Stein
From gURL magazine, a brief introduction to Stein through her famous salon at 27 rue de Fleurus. Meet Alice, read about Tender Buttons, or learn about Picasso's Portrait of Stein. You can even learn about Basket.
The Dalkey Archive Stein Reprints
The first people to republish The Making of Americans in almost thirty years, and only the third American press ever to publish it. Visit their site, buy a copy, and pick up A Novel of Thank You while you're at it.
The World of Gertrude Stein
Beautifully designed brief biography of Stein. Lots of photographs.
Poetry of Gertrude Stein
Includes a exerpt from Before the Flowers of Friendship Faded Faded. From the Isle of Lesbos site.
North Side: Gertrude Stein
Information on Stein from her birthplace (formerly Allegheny, now the North Side of Pittsburgh). This exhibition on Pittsburgh includes Mabel Dodge's 1913 article on Stein, "Speculations, or Post-Impressionism in Prose." There's also an advertisment for her father's clothing store, a 1934 article from the Pittsburgh Press ("Gertrude Stein Forgotten or Unknown in North Side Area Where She Was Born"), and a brief letter from Stein to this same newspaper.
Carl Van Vechten's Photographs of Gertrude Stein
Seven photographs taken by Stein's friend Carl Van Vechten. Part of a large online exhibition of his work at the Library of Congress.
