Acceptable Use Policy

Introduction

As a user of the Associated Graduate Students of the University of California, Irvine's (AGS) internet server, ags.sga.uci.edu and its aliases, hereby refered to as the AGS Server, you are bound to the terms of this agreement. The AGS reserves the right to amend this agreement in the future with no notice. Users are reminded that use of the AGS Server is also bound to the terms of UC Irvine's Policies and Procedures .

Warranties/Disclaimers

THIS SERVICE IS PROVIDED BY THE AGS ``AS IS'' AND ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE DISCLAIMED. IN NO EVENT SHALL AGS OR ITS AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PROCUREMENT OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES; LOSS OF USE, DATA, OR PROFITS; OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION) HOWEVER CAUSED AND ON ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE OR OTHERWISE) ARISING IN ANY WAY OUT OF THE USE OF THIS SOFTWARE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.

Monitoring and Privacy

No guarantee is given that any communication or use of any service available the AGS Server is truly secure. You have no enforceable right to privacy. Any information knowingly or unknowingly transmitted over a data network link can not be guaranteed to be private.

The AGS reserves the right to monitor any users use of the AGS Server.

Any confidential information shared with the AGS will never be sold or otherwise traded with anyone.

Personal Files

Although back-ups are made regularly of the AGS Server, the AGS is not responsible for back ups of your personal files. This includes but is not limited to emails, web sites, and mailing lists. You should make regular back-ups of your own files. If possible, the AGS will make its back-ups available to you.

The AGS reserves to right to remove or alter any file belonging to a user with no notice.

Nontransferabilty of Account

You may not share your account with another person or party, with the sole exception of seeking technical support from Network and Academic Computing or an AGS officier. Providing your account details to another person or party is in breach of the Acceptable Use Policy. This will result in the immediate termination of your account.

Compliance with All Laws

You must be in strict compliance of all applicable laws when using the AGS Server. You will hold the AGS harmless in any claim.

Unacceptable Conduct

The AGS has adopted the same standards as the University of California. The user is responsible to be aware of University of California policies regarding electronic communication and behaviour online.

Right to Suspend or Cancel Accounts

The AGS has the right to suspend or cancel any account it sees fit with no notification given to the account holder.

Notification

All communication between the AGS and you will be via email to your AGS Server email account.
