Can I upload files using FTP?

AGS Website Accounts

Yes you can to your AGS website account. If you want to upload a file to appear at http://www.ags.uci.edu/Members/username/ then you can use your ftp client to log into ags.uci.edu. However there are some tricks.

The first is that you must use port 8021. It is really important that you log into port 8021 otherwise your connection will be rejected. The second is that the root level of the website is actually located in a folder called www.ags.uci.edu.

An example URL that you would use to connect to upload files to the username account is:

   ftp://ags.uci.edu:8021/www.ags.uci.edu/Members/username/

AGS Unix Accounts

No, AGS only allows scp and sftp. If you want to upload a file to appear at http://www.ags.uci.edu/~username/ then you will have to use either scp or sftp to do this.
