Awards and commendations issued on an annual basis by the AGS Council.
Debbie Davis Award for Outstanding Graduate Student Advocacy and Leadership
The award was established by the AGS Council when Resolution 03-28 was passed. The award was established in honor of Debbie Davis who had served as a graduate student advocate and leader during her tenure as a graduate student at UC Irvine.
The award was established as a way to recognize graduate student advocates and leaders. The award is given annually by the AGS Council. Nominations can be submitted by anyone but the nominees must be a graduate student who exemplifies outstanding efforts in the area of graduate student advocacy and leadership.
Usually, the award is decided during one of the AGS Council meetings during the Spring quarter. The winner of the award is notified via email, an annoucement is made on the AGS website and at the last Student Government / Administration Luncheon. The award recipient receives a small monetary gift as well.
Kathy Alberti Award for Outstanding Faculty or Staff
Kathy Alberti began her career as a UCI staff member in 1973 and was manager and central coordinator of the Social Sciences Graduate Student Office for many years. She received the 2002 UCI STRIDE award for her work in fomenting inclusive and welcome environments for students, especially from underrepresented groups, and is acknowledged as a source of inspiration and advice in many students' dissertations. The award is given annually to a faculty or staff member who has worked most diligently on behalf of graduate student interests.

The winner of the award is notified via email, an annoucement is made on the AGS website and at the last Student Government / Administration Luncheon. The award recipeint receives an honorary plaque from AGS commemorating our recognition of her/his service.
