All graduate students and recent alumni are invited to nominate faculty for these awards. This is an opportunity for graduate students to recognize a faculty member who goes “above and beyond” for his or her students.

Dear UCI Graduate Students,

The Associated Graduate Students Council is pleased to announce the second annual Graduate Student Mentoring Awards. The relationship between a graduate student and a faculty mentor can have profound and long-lasting impact on both parties. It is our hope to recognize those faculty who commit most to developing a positive relationship and to promoting excellence in their graduate students.

In particular, the AGS seeks to recognize faculty mentors who inspire and guide their students, and whose dedication to graduate students and commitment to excellence have made significant contributions to both the professional development and quality of life for their students.

All graduate students and recent alumni are invited to nominate faculty for these awards. This is an opportunity for graduate students to recognize a faculty member who goes “above and beyond” for his or her students. Two awards will be given, one to a tenured faculty member, and one to a non-tenured faculty member (this category includes lecturers who have significantly contributed in advising a graduate student on his or her thesis/dissertation.)

The winners in both categories will be determined by a committee of graduate students and faculty from across campus, and all nominees will be awarded a certificate and given the option to be recognized at the Graduate Commencement ceremony.

Nomination forms and further information, including UCI’s Minimum Standards for Mentoring, can be found on the AGS website at www.ags.uci.edu <http://www.ags.uci.edu/>.

All nominations must be submitted via email to Adam Bondy, AGS Vice-President of Internal Affairs, by April 11th , 2008, and the winners will be announced during Spring Quarter. The email address is vpinternal@ags.uci.edu <mailto:vpinternal@ags.uci.edu>. Please address any questions regarding the nomination process or the Mentoring Awards to the same email address.

We look forward to hearing from UCI’s graduate students!
