For the first time in UC Irvine's history, Graduate Commencement will be held separately from undergraduate commencement. The ceremony will include all PhD, EdD, and Master's Degree candidates, except those from The Paul Merage School of Business and the Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP).
Eligibility Requirements
Students who have or will earn a degree during the 2007-2008 academic year (Summer 2007, Fall 2007, Winter 2008, Spring 2008), or who expect to complete their degree requirements during Summer or Fall 2008, are eligible and welcome to participate in the commencement ceremony.
NOTE: If you are planning to graduate in Summer or Fall 2008, you must submit a Commencement Release Form to participate in the commencement ceremony.
To Participate, you MUST:
- Register online by April 11, 2008
Go to Graduate Commencement Required Registration and Survey to register. - Order Cap & Gown by April 11, 2008
Go to the UCI Alumni Association website to order.
Other Information
- The Hooding Ceremony
Please talk to your advisor as soon as possible to determine his/her availability on the day of the ceremony. If your advisor isn’t available, the Dean of your school will perform the hooding. Faculty: a hooding ceremony “how-to” video will be shown in the robing room on the day of the event. - Tickets for Family and Guests

Several hotels offer special room rates for graduates, family and friends. - Parking for Family and Guests
