The form and function of AGS are set down by our constitution and bylaws.

The AGS is an unincorporated association of the state of California, and the recognized graduate student government association at the University of California, Irvine. The AGS is governed by a President, four Vice Presidents elected by the Council, and a Council of representatives elected by each academic unit. AGS collects $9 per quarter from each graduate student (except the College of Medicine and Graduate Schools of Management students, who pay $4.50 per quarter and get half the representation of Council).

AGS is governed by a constitution, bylaws, Roberts Rules of Order, and University Policy.

Constitution

The AGS Constitution is available online or as an Adobe PDF file suitable for printing.

The Constitution lays out the fundamental framework for how AGS works. It also describes the role the different officers play within AGS. The Constitution also details how the AGS budgeting process works as well as what can and can not be funded by AGS.

Bylaws

The AGS bylaws are available online or as an Adobe PDF view file suitable for printing.

The AGS bylaws provide the rules for day to day operations. It covers such sundry topics as budgeting, elections, and council membership.
