The Anthill Pub's mailing list, Anthill-announce, is operated to help the UCI community stay abreast of news regarding the re-opening of the Anthill Pub in its new location in the renovated Student Center.
The Associated Graduate Students (AGS) has taken an important step towards assuring the successful return of the Pub in the Fall of 2007 by choosing its operating partners. As many of you know, Student Affairs has required that AGS divest itself of its alcohol license and partner with a third party that will hold the license and run the Pub. On September 26th, 2006 AGS voted to endorse Scott Winterstein and Tim Haskell as its operating partners.
Scott Winterstein was a longtime graduate student at UCI, an Anthill bartender beginning in 1999, and the manager of the Anthill from 2001 until it closed in 2005. Tim Haskell is the owner of Ranch Hands BBQ, which operates The Cafe at TechSpace in Aliso Viejo as well as Soiree Catering. Tim has done a considerable amount of catering at UCI and has close and longstanding connections to the campus.
In the coming year, we will post occasional updates to this mailing list as progress is made toward making the new Anthill Pub a reality. We hope soon to make the Pub's website operational again.
We don't want this to turn into a discussion list (which would discourage widespread subscription), but subscriber posts are welcome as long as they are of general interest to Pub-goers. Those who are interested in discussing Pub-related issues are directed to a Pub forum hosted by the AGS website.
Please feel free to invite anyone to join this mailing list who you think would be interested in news about the Pub.
