WHEREAS it is stated in Article V, Section 4 of the AGS Constitution that "AGS project funds are intended to improve the social and academic environment of the UCI campus for graduate students,"
WHEREAS the mission of Universities Allied for Essential Medicines is to mobilize students and university administrators to petition for changes in drug and technology licensing agreements in order to increase world-wide access to life-saving medicines and devices;
WHEREAS UAEM is committed to educating and enlisting the support of graduate, medical and undergraduate students in its efforts to change the relationship between universities and companies,
WHEREAS UAEM needs to attract individuals knowledgable about pharmaceutical-university relations to educate the public;
WHEREAS AGS has formally supported the UAEM mission in Resolution 06-33, Nov 2007;
LET IT THEREFORE BE RESOLVED that the AGS Council shall contribute $234.70 from Special Projects to UAEM to support a lecture from former drug representative Sharam Ahari on the UCI campus.
