Whereas AGS does not currently have a code of ethics for its council members,

Whereas student government officers should aspire to serve the student body and are keepers of the public trust,

Whereas effective service of our constituents requires an unwavering commitment to moral standards and personal standards,

Whereas it is AGS’s responsibility to implement measures that will safeguard the rights of students and protect the integrity of this organization,

Whereas for the aforementioned reasons, it would behoove AGS to establish a governing document that delineates the organization's underlying moral concepts, states the expectations regarding the conduct of its officers and details a plan for upholding these principles,

Let it therefore be resolved that AGS convene a special task force to create an ethics code for the organization, that takes into account UCI’s Principles of Community (http://www.dos.uci.edu/conduct/principlesofcommunity.php) and ASUCI’s code of ethics, which shall be submitted to Council no later than week 5 of Fall Quarter 2016,

Let it finally be resolved that Legislative Council will strive to officially adopt an ethics code by the conclusion of Fall Quarter 2016.
