AGS COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
I. Call to Order
Meeting called to order at 5:40 by AGS President Michelle Chan
Quorum established with 25 members and 10 proxies (30 total, 20 needed)
II. Approve Agenda (1)
Motion to approve the agenda by Connor

No objections, motion passes.
III. Approve minutes from previous meeting (1)

IV. Executive Reports:
a. President’s report (3)
i. SOCC conference this weekend – we need delegates and volunteers. Email coming after this meeting with details.
ii. Career Conference – Currently we don’t have anyone that is coordinating that conference. Is anyone willing to run this? If not, the conference will be cancelled and combined with later event in May. Contact Michelle if you’re interested.
iii. Dinners with Anteaters – hosting on Sunday at 5pm. If you’re interested in helping, we need volunteers. Let Michelle know, free dinner!
b. VP Internal report (2)
i. 3 new projects we’re working on including parking, food security, etc. More updates coming soon on some of these projects
ii. Climate survey in your inboxes – please help by filling out this survey!
c. VP External report (2)
i. SOCC this weekend – space up for delegates and volunteers
d. VP Finance report (2)
i. SFAC has been reviewing fees collected in the past, but no major updates.
e. VP Social report (2)
i. Aquatics Day this weekend, sign up!
ii. Should AGS rent out its Wii console? Possibly setting up a contract
f. VP Admin report (2)
i. No major updates
g. Staff reports (5)
i. Aaron (COD) – SHAC health committee will be starting soon ,email if you’re interested in helping
ii. International Chair (Olivia) – Thanksgiving is next Tuesday, please help with inviting your friends on Facebook even if you can’t come. BernEaters are organizing a climate change talk tomorrow at 5pm in the Student Center, Emerald Bay C.
iii. Symposium (Rahmadi) – Next Symposium meeting will be after Thanksgiving
iv. Becky (Legislative) – Irvine Candidate Forum was not a huge turnout but film online got a lot of updates. It’s on the AGS website under Advocacy tab.
v. Mikaela (COS) – Next Coffee with Council will be a breakfast setup during finals week, one month from today. (Dec. 13). Spread the word!
V. Resolution 16-39 to clarify funding committee allocations (10 minutes)
Previous iterations of Funding Committee have not been recorded correctly in AGS legislation and minutes. Need to clarify and bring previously undocumented but passed amendments into documentation correctly.
o Motion to approve resolution by Connor; Ken seconds; Motion passes (35-0-0)
VI. Department Climate Survey (10 minutes)
Internal is interested in working with different departments on how to aggregate best practices and construct social climate that is helpful for students. Social climate defined here as anything from “knowing each other, feeling welcome at events, to planning things for students to take part in…” Broad definition. Please share your experiences with Connor in person and within survey emailed to you.
VII. Student Wellness Building introduction (30 minutes)
Presentation on proposal to fund this new building. Referendum to do so last year did not pass in the student population. This is an introductory presentation and more discussion will follow in Winter Quarter. Admin is interested in hearing about which resources students would like housed in this building. Contact Michelle to give input or join the committee to eventually write the referendum language. Please contact Michelle for slides if you’d like to see this presentation.
VIII. New business
- Connor: For those who are serving on different Boards and Campus Committees, please contact Connor with happenings that he can relay on to Internal Committee.
